What is "identical" referring to?
As soon as we agree on the very fact of the appearance of this option, we will begin a discussion on what is the most successful criterion for this comparison to be made.
I disagree. IMO such things have to be discussed beforehand to make implementation straightforward and to avoid implementing a feature that doesn't match what was requested.

If identical refers to file contents, then the feature is already there in TC's sync tool - and implementing it in the copy process doesn't make sense which Hacker explained very well. If identical refers to date/time, then the feature is more or less already there with the "Overwrite all older" button/option.

I seem to have also quite clearly described why the presence of one tool in one place is not the reason for the prohibition of calling the same functions from this tool inside another piece of code.
Working with the synchronization dialog is not analogous to the behavior of a person who wants to copy folder A to folder B!
He does not need to draw far-reaching conclusions on EVERY element of this comparison inside sync.dir's form. He needs to press F5, start the copying process, and if he *suddenly* sees that there are duplicate files, then FAST and INTUITIVE select the "Skip identical" option!
And in advance, he can specify somewhere in the settings - WHAT exactly did he mean by such "identity".
Now you are forwarding it to another window, it is proposed to see a completely different output of its files - and you just ask to use what seems to be already there - because.... like that should be enough for him. But that's not the case at all.
