Post by *YMang »

I installed Total Commander 11.01. when trying to split, I got the error Cannot open input file. I tried different types of files and always got the same error. How can I fix?

Helllo!
What, exactly, did you do? Did you place the cursor on a file in the acitve panel of TC? And what settings for the split did you select?

Probably you tried to split file from Desktop - virtual folder opened e.g. by "Open Desktop Folder" command under "Commands" menu.
It's impossible, you need navigate to physical folder "Desktop" e.g. C:\Users\username\Desktop

The user also asked by e-mail and sent a screenshot, and indeed he was trying to use the function in a virtual folder (Downloads). Unfortunately this doesn't work because normal file functions don't work in these folders. To make this function work, one has to go to the underlying physical folder, which would be c:\users\user name\Downloads in this case.
