Sort of File by Date/Time fails (in virtual "Downloads" folder)

Post by *luigill »

Hi everyone.
I have an annoying problem that I don't think has been reported previously.
When I went to sort a folder by date/time it usually put the folders at the top and then at the end of the folders it started to sort all the files, any type of file regardless of the extension: doc, txt, mp3 and zipped files. (TC, version 10.00 64 bit)
Lately (TC 11.02) I've noticed that it treats zipped files as folders and inserts them before other types of files (first the folders, then the compressed files and then the other files). I would like to go back to having a chronological order (especially in the download folder ) of all files regardless of type...
I don't know if I explained myself well... I'm attaching a screenshot
thanks in advance
Luigi

Your screenshots doesn't explain anything - they should include the file pane titlebar and tab headers. But I'm guessing it's a view of "Downloads" folder - VIRTUAL directory. Go to physical "Downloads" directory e.g C:\Users\(username)\Downloads.

A thousand thanks. it's just as you say... in the "real" folder the ordering of the files is correct. Thanks again
I think it's time to buy my copy :-)
ciao

The virtual folder reports the zip files as folders, not as files. By default, Total Commander sorts folders by name only.
But you can change this via menu Configuration - Options - Display - Sorting directories - Like files (also by time)
