And what would be the large benefit compared to using the Total7zip plugin
which always supports the newest version of 7zip.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3527)
TC 11.03 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1373a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.3, Listary Pro 6.3.0.77
QAP 11.6.3.3 x64

The advantage is that you don't necessarily have to install plugins (I currently use Total7zip). To always support the latest version in Total7zip you need to modify the configuration file, very simple of course but not all users know how to do it.

No, there is no need to change the configuration file.
You just update the 7-zip files in the plugin dir.
Even simpler, install and update 7zip in the OS and point the plugin configuration to this using a link.

Replacing the files with updated ones is a bit annoying and not for everyone. To link the installation path (the solution I currently use which I consider the best) you always have to modify the configuration file. By integration I also mean the simple link to the "7zG.exe" file in the TotalCommander settings.

you always have to modify the configuration file
What is be the big difference between entering the installation path in Total7zip's configuration file and entering the same path in a TC Packer options dialog - you only have to do it once, and you have to know where 7zip is installed in both cases.

TotalCommander have native link support for the ACE format which is now insecure and little used. 7Zip on the other hand is modern, safe and used by many users and companies. Plugins are not always updated and are often abandoned by developers, therefore subject to malware.

The Total7zip plugin is many years old
and you can alwyas use the newest 7zip files.
So there is no additional risk at all.

I don't question the quality of the Total7zip plugin, however if it were implemented natively the support wouldn't be bad. :)

TC would be perceived as more modern if it supported current compression formats before LHA and UC2. Perhaps the dialog should allow to configure more parameters that require memorizing command-line parameters in 7-Zip.

That's why they added flat icons a few years ago.
