Total Commander Knowledge Base (Wiki)
A Total Commander Knowledge Base in the form of a Wiki has been put online. It is meant to offer the knowledge that has accumulated in these support forum over the time in a structured and concise form. Even though the Wiki is relatively new, it is a good idea to check it out before starting a new thread.
The TC Wiki is based on the same software that Wikipedia is using. It allows every registered user of the forum to edit or add new articles.
We invite you not only to browse the Wiki but also to improve existing or add completely new articles.
The Wiki is currently available in two languages:
English Wiki
German Wiki
And last - a short note: The topic Useful 3rd party tools to complement TC in the Plugin Forum has become far too long and thus not very useful as a resource. Therefore we recommend adding links to useful tools to the Wiki page called Tools.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

This seems like a good thread to discuss the Total Commander Wiki

Re: Total Commander Knowledge Base (Wiki)
I have added the following page to the wiki:
So far, only the General tab is explained and not the other tabs of the search dialog.
I named the "include/exclude directories" traverse filters. Hopefully that name makes sense.
It would be nice to later add a section at the end with lots of search examples.

Not so great, the page Registry wasn't accurate. Hopefully it's better now.

Re: Total Commander Knowledge Base (Wiki)
Btw, I fixed a little something on the Backup page, in section Where to find those files?.
The correct environment variable to use is: %COMMANDER_INI_PATH%.

%COMMANDER_INI_PATH% is new for TC 11.03. Using "cd %COMMANDER_INI%" also works. Perhaps mention them both?jonathanpoulin wrote: 2024-07-07, 11:19 UTC The correct environment variable to use is: %COMMANDER_INI_PATH%.

Ok, I didn't know it's new. But yes, I know "cd %COMMANDER_INI%" works as well.white wrote: 2024-07-07, 11:24 UTC%COMMANDER_INI_PATH% is new for TC 11.03. Using "cd %COMMANDER_INI%" also works. cd %COMMANDER_INI% takes you directly to to the current .ini file, cd %COMMANDER_INI_PATH% only take you to the directory with the .ini file.
Before we got %COMMANDER_INI_PATH% we could use %COMMANDER_INI%\..\ to go to the directory with the .ini file. %COMMANDER_INI_PATH% was added because a few third party programs could not disolve %COMMANDER_INI%\..\ correctly
