Is there any consideration for developing a Non-Play version that still provides APK installation capabilities? The recent Android 11 update has hampered direct APK installations, despite being granted permissions. It would benefit from exploring options for those who rely on this feature.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

I had to add the source manually in FDroid settings, the QR/Link didnt work.

Hi, christian. Honestly for me it is not an obstacle to download the fully functional app from the Total Commander site just like I do with the pc app. And f*** with Google Play!

I subscribe, with a rss or txt link to check update programmatically.
I not undstand why to force to third application to update.

There is no force, it's just more convenient to get automatic updates.

ehh "murena".. and FDroid
Murena is iniziated from Gael Duval... moment, where know i em' ? Mandrake, yepp, he is the Mandrake Founder so Mandriva and so on..
you can buy a Murena, this Handy is free from the GooglePlay Store .
( i was a Mandrake/Mandriva and OpenMandriva User, but now no more, and use Fedora with Plasma and VirtualBox(for WinNT )

best
Blacky

btw, Chris, a GMail is not the best, gmail overwach the mailservers and if it's the mailserver autencity not confirmed,
blocks -> all <- Mailadresses and send it back as "error-mail",
this names, not all can mail you , if you use a gmail-adress.., best

Som30ne wrote: 2022-06-18, 16:38 UTC *The installer paradox*
I understand that google prevents TotalCommander that was installed from Play Store to install other apps.
From this I think it will do so for all other file managers.
Only apps that were not installed from the Play Store would be able to install other apps.
But --- no apps could install other apps, as they are downloaded from Play Store, and thus -
would not allow to install the TC version that is able to install other apps.

@ghisler
My suggestion:
Make the installer feature as a plugin that itself does not require install.
A zip package, that can be extracted to some location accessible for write by a non superUser,
instead of requiring installation of another app altogether.

**I do not know if executable code can be put by a non superUser and be executed,
But if TC can run installer without SU I tend to believe it is possible
@ghisler
I'm glad to see that my suggestion was considered, and actually came to exist :-)

Make the installer feature as a plugin that itself does not require install.
This is also strictly forbidden by Google policies. However, browsers are still allowed to install apps, so just download my installer app with Chrome or the Samsung browser.

Thanks for the suggestion.

(Hoping they would keep at least some option to install apps outside the google play store in the long run,
and not prevent it completely)

Added both the regular and beta repositories. Neither have Total Commander available?
