Undo Feature

There's no way to UNDO most of operations you can do with TC. No chance. If you wish that, use ZFS or any another time-back solution.

There is no such thing, not even with Explorer. Please make a regular backup for that.

I'm doing nothing with the Explorer because it's rubbish...
TC is the more sophisticated tool and I love it since the beginning, I think it's more than 20 years ago that I have been working with it... A feature like the "overwrite-undo" would be nice...
It's not very comfortable to make a manual backup every time when I want to write a file, an automatism would help, isn't it...

I saw that - but "Copy" can lead to overwriting and the website does not say: "Copy (without overwriting)".

Without support for overwriting I don't see that an Undo feature can do anything that I cannot already do (I might have to look in TC's log)

...As I mentioned above, these copies are usually older, at least one day. If you overwrite a file recently stored, it's away...

If this happens so often as you describe you should change your work-flow

Theology has nothing to do with mistakes YOU make because YOU dont pay attention to what YOu do
(Not that I understand how as TC displays an overwrite warning where u can compare files....)

Theres is no team, there is ONLY Christian

And as pointed out an Overwrite Protection function would SLOW TC to a crawl if TC had to copy a GB big file somewhere
else as backup when you overwrite it just because YOU dont want to read a dialog TC shows you

There is no function Total Commander could call for undo. It's buried in some context menus.

I sometimes make a mistake while using a process that moves many files, each to a separate folder. To reverse the moves, I create a new file, paste in the relevant portion of the file operation log, interchange the source and destination folders with the help of a text editor and column block editing, and turn the new file into a .BAT file.

It would be convenient to have a TC command to allow undoing of accidental moves, but the current situation is adequate for me if the log is available. Other factors:

. If the log path is configured incorrectly, log creation will fail silently.

. If I intend to do routine copying or deleting of tens of thousands of files, I may turn off the log. I sometimes forget to turn the log back on. I would like to be able to turn off logging only for the next command.

. If the problematic move was not the previous one, but was a few moves prior, then a Ctrl+z command that only reversed the previous move might not be adequate.

. A given instance of TC might be unaware of file management via other instances of TC or other file managers.

. If I do file operations via a USB file transfer cable, the FTP log format is not nearly as usable for my purposes as is the regular file operation log format. I use TC's USB file transfer capability heavily, but I never have needed the debugging aspect of the FTP log. It would be nice to be able to choose between an FTP log format like the file operation log format, and the current FTP debugging format.
