[TC11.51 RC3] File edit lose if in an archive

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[TC11.51 RC3] File edit lose if in an archive

Post by *andry81 »

If start edit a text file in an archive and exit archive directory BEFORE exit an editor, then TC reports an error.

Steps to repro:

1. Create 7z+tar archive with a text file
2. Start entering the archive
3. Start edit the file
4. Save the file, but not exit the editor
5. Exit the archive, tar and then 7z, by the backspace button (TC won't ask to repack)
6. Exit the editor
7. TC ask for repack
8 .Error dialog: "Function not supported!"

I known that the edited file is still in a temporary directory: %TEMP%\_tc_\

But it still looks for a user like the edited file is lost and can not be reopened for the edit again.

Confirmed. This occurs only if the file is packed twice, no matter what the archive types are. ZIP inside ZIP gives the same error.
We are not so S.M.A.R.T. as we imagine...

Sorry, this is not supported because the temporary inner archive will be deleted when you leave it.
