Files overlay iconst under WSL2
WSL2, win10x64 LTSC
2 panels, 2 repositories, on local drive and WSL2.
All icons on local drive exists, on WSL2 exists only for folders.
Is there some way to fix this?

Re: Files overlay iconst under WSL2
I cannot reproduce that. How exactly do you access WSL2?
I'm going via menu Commands - Open Desktop Directory - Linux - Ubuntu. This brings me to
\\wsl.localhost\Ubuntu
Both associated files and programs have their usual icons.

Re: Files overlay iconst under WSL2
I have now tried that too - icons appear just fine.
Which icons do not appear for you? For example
- icons for *.txt files
- icons for *.exe files
- icons from internal associations
etc.
If it affects *.exe files, please go to menu Configuration - Options - Icons and make sure the following option is NOT checked:
exe/lnk not on net

Re: Files overlay iconst under WSL2
Not confirmed. On my system, I see the following:
php: no icon on any drive, not associated with anything
js: Edge icon
woff2: no icon on any drive, not associated with anything
xml: Edge icon
svg: Edge icon
png: Microsoft Photos icon
The problem must be on your side. Maybe you changed the association to a program which can't handle WSL2?

Re: Files overlay iconst under WSL2
I use XnviewMP, no problems with view or browse. Just double click on image and open, big preview on right display, image browser with thumbnails on the main. Absolutely similar as on the local driveghisler(Author) wrote: 2025-02-05, 07:51 UTC The problem must be on your side. Maybe you changed the association to a program which can't handle WSL2?

Re: Files overlay iconst under WSL2
Sorry, I have no other idea why there wouldn't be any icons.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Re: Files overlay iconst under WSL2
I never used WSL, but have read about issues of somewhat similar nature. MS people told that objects were accessed using network sharing mechanics. Sometimes share might fail to answer, and then treated as being offline.
