For me it is not so much to insult anyone to call him a ****.
It's rather you play down what Nazis did. You know, they tried - almost with success - to rub out a whole race, the Jews. They build "Kontzentrationslager" where they did such horrible things to people one could not imagine. I don'd know if you ever visited a "KZ", but I guess not. To see the lots and lots of people that were only sceletons, forced to work really hard. And if they couldn't to have to die. And the survivors had to get their gold teeth, and shave their hair off to fill cushions with it and anything.
I think there are only very few people who could be compared with Nazis.
Come on, it has been over 60 years, and most of you should not even attempt to talk on the N-word subject.
It did not even take a few years until some people claimed the "KZs" were a lie. And they keep on doing so.
And once everyone uses **** as a common term for anybody bad he will bann from his mind what the real Nazis did.
My family can tell what it really means.
So I doubt they told it to you in a decent way.
Remember that term simply does NOT apply in present.
IMHO not to use this term in his native meaning is denying the things that been done from the Nazis.
If you all feel I went to far, just delete that post (and thread) and that's it.
I don't think one should do so (and I'm pretty sure neither the moderators nor @ghisler would do so). As your post shows: It's still time to discuss the issue. So anybody who reads this post and the replies he will have to think about it by himself.
Apart from that:
If you are used to use a word in a different meaning than the community you are talking to and you know about this difference it is IMHO an offence not to use the meaning used by the community.
If I like to call my friends 'asshole' as a funny nick I can not expect that unknown people understand and respect my use of the word if I call them ' dear assholes'.
My twelve cent.
