webDAV : phone <> laptop

Post by *schmock »

i installed the webdav plugin on android and want to connect to my windows notebook also there running tc with webdav plugin,
while i can acces my ipad via the windows tc & webdav, i cannot connect to my phone, when i enter the phones IP as a connection
(both connected to the same router)..
this should work? or what do i have to enter into the win tc quick connection?
i didnt enter a specific port or user/pw, or is this mandatory?

Your PC may not be able to see your phone at all because of a router feature called "client isolation". Please check your router settings whether this is active. Also some routers separate clients connected via WiFi and clients connected via Ethernet cable, so they can't see each other.

thats the reason why i said, that a connection with my ipad isnt a problem.
its not the router.

As I understand it, you only installed the WebDAV plugin on both sides. The WebDAV plugin is a client only, it does not run any kind of server. You need to install the WiFi/WLAN plugin on Android, then select the files/folders you want to share in Total Commander. Then click on the copy button (second from the left in lower toolbar) and then "via WiFi". This shows you the URL which you can use in a Web browser or in the WebDAV plugin to access the shared files.

403 is returned when entering an incomplete path. Make sure to enter also the 4 digit subdirectory, it acts like a pin code.

If you got it when trying to upload a file, make sure to allow uploads in the server (it's a checkbox).

Please note that these last 4 digits will change every few weeks, for security reasons.
If you set a user name and password, the last 4 digits will always be 8888. Instead you will be asked for the user name and password, and login happens via digest authentication, which is secure also with unencrypted connections.
