11.55 copy on NAS stuck (NO TC BUG)

Post by *cebudude »

sometimes when I copy a movie from c: to my nas TC 11 is stuck
I cant close TC and the copy will not continue (no error message whatever
I cant even shutdown windows as this copy transfer is somewhat stuck and Windows will not shutdown
Using Win11 insider Build

today I tried to start a new copy session with TC with the same files and its working but the first session is stuck
cant close the first session
cant close TC

update: first session I use move (stuck)
second session I did copy (working)
update:
now I did open a 3rd session move which completed without error
all files are moved to nas where the first move session is still stuck on the first file

so the file which first move session was stuck (is still stuck) was full moved with another move session and the file on c is deleted

this stuck TC move happens from time to time recently and never happend before

Sorry, no idea what could be the problem with your NAS. You could try using "process monitor" from www.sysinternals.com to check whether there are any errors accessing your drive.

A couple of days ago I encountered the same exact behavior with deleting files on an internal SSD. TC got stuck on deleting the first file and couldn't be killed with the task manager. After a reboot TC deleted the same file without issues.

maybe its just my system but it happens all the time with 11.55

I will use now a other file commander to doublecheck if there is that issue too!

update I changed for "double commander" for testing an its exactly the same
somewhat stuck while copy/move

so its not a software issure from TC its a software issue from my PC
case closed

It could very well be caused by some background software, especially anti-virus software. It's also possible that either device has a problem with the mass storage device. Some HDDs tend to "collect" corrupt sectors over time. I suggest to check the mass storage device health with CrystalDiskInfo and/or smartmontools/smartctl; the latter is available for Synology NAS systems AFAIK.

...is part of Synology-DSM: Storage Manager -> HDD/SSD -> integration status -> s.m.a.r..t
