Media Player - no cover support for ID3?

Post by *lefreak »

Hallo an alle,
bei mir wird seit v3.62 kein Cover mehr als Hintergrund angezeigt.
In v3.50 konnte man noch das Albumcover aus dem ID3-Tag sehen, nun ist es immer weiß.

Hello everyone,
Since v3.62, no cover is displayed as the background for me.
In v3.50, you could still see the album cover from the ID3 tag, but now it is always white.

I have just tried this, and the cover is still shown. Do you still see the cover in Total Commander itself as an icon?

You posted again the notification.

What type of files are affected? mp3? flac? ogg? oga?
I actually added support for newer oga files with missing vorbis headers, maybe this had a negative influence on your files?

I use only mp3 on my tablet, I also checked the options menu of the player, all is like it was before.

I tried installing v3.5 over the newer version, but it isn't possible.
I re-installed v3.62 over the actual version, the behaviour hasn't changed.

Edit:
I downloaded flac files to the tablet, it's the same behaviour, but the cover icon is not shown in the list. Will try tomorrow more variations...

If you want to test v3.5, you can uninstall v3.62 and check the option to keep x MB of data, then install v3.5.

Hello, I have tried three different file types for the same album (all downloaded from Bandcamp) - mp3, flac, ogg
The cover icon is displayed in the file list for all three, but no cover is visible when playing the music.

I have uploaded the files to three folders on Swisstransfer. If you would like to try them out, please let me know.
Best regards.

P.S.: I'd rather not uninstall anything. Last time, I had to re-enter all my login details for my WebDAV accounts, which was quite time-consuming as I have over 15 accounts. I'd rather wait for the next version of TC for Android ;)

Yes, please send me one of the URLs to support at ghisler dot com. I promise to delete the files after completing the tests.

I have sent the files; I hope the email is not in the spam folder.
Best regards.

Apparently you didn't get my direct reply. I tested with one mp3 and one ogg file, and I got the cover underlay on the player controls in the notification for both on my phone with Android 16. You can try updating the media database:
1. Create a new button in the lower toolbar via "+" button
2. Set type to "Internal command"
3. Pick command 130
4. Select the tracks
5. Press the button

Thank you very much for your trouble.
I created the button and was able to reload several folders and individual files using it, but unfortunately it didn’t help.
I think one of the reasons is the relatively old version of Android that Amazon uses for its tablets. It’s strange, of course, that the TC Media Player version 3.50 worked without any problems.
My tablet runs Fire OS 7.3.3.1 = Android 9

Nevertheless, simply discovering the internal commands (which were new to me) was worth it; it’s an impressive list, and I’ve already integrated several others into the bar at the bottom (commands 121, 126, 127).

I purchased TC 2010; it’s probably the software I use most (Windows + Android) and offers excellent value for money.

Have a relaxing weekend.

I can confirm that there is no cover shown in the Android 9 emulator. Hopefully I can find the reason with the debugger, but it will take a while.
