[TC 11.57rc4] renaming files when displaying long file names is disabled truncates long names
If I have disabled "Use long names (recommended)" and I try to inline rename a file to a long file name, then the name is just truncated to 8 characters.
I would expect that the file got renamed to the long file name and the short file name would be shown after pressing Enter - Just as if I had used DOS's RENAME or REN command
Similar if I try to copy for example testfile.txt to testfilenew.txt with Shift+F5, then TC tries to copy testfile.txt to testfile.txt and gives the message that I cannot copy a file to itself. No problems doing that with DOS's COPY command.

Sorry, I prefer to keep it this way. Disabled means disabled. This would affect a TON of functions.

So when it says "Use long names" it really means that if disable I cannot use long names, not just not have them displayed.
So it is a mixed display AND operation setting.
Maybe add to the Help: "If disabled it is not possible to create files with long names - any attempt to do so will truncate the name to a 8.3 name"

It's not consequential, so I can't really add this statement. For example, Shift+F4 can still create longer name files, but F7 can't create long name directories.

Then maybe just add: "If disabled it is not possible to rename files to long names - any attempt to do so will truncate the name to a 8.3 name"
