Okay... made a 0.4.4 release, but unluckily found out after that that Scite ate your french accents. So I've to put silent 0.4.4a release.

:) Hello !
- The plugin works so fine, thanks !
- However, when you have archives made by the 7Zip program itself, they are *.7z, while yours are *.7zip.
• So, I can't open them. Of course, *.7z is associated with <7zFM.exe> which is launched for these archives.
- I should be nice that the plugin could open the *.7z archives, i.e. by Ctrl+PgeDown, that is not working for me currently… Win 98SE - Fr.
I think the problems you describe are caused because you probably use PluginMgr which by default associates <someplug>.wcx with *.<someplug>, which in this case is wrong.
I'm aware that my plugin is 7zip.wcx, as it might be 7z.wcx but this one was already released... so I didn't want to mix-up two plugins with the same name.
As for content detection of *.exe ... whatever files... yes it works, but probably you updated 7zip.wcx file but haven't updated wincmd.ini where the plugin features (feature flags are stored).
So best way would be uninstall & install the plugin using TC 6.5 autoinstall.
norfie wrote:(...)
readme.txt of 7zip.wcx wrote: - Extract files (all compresion methods implemented)
(freezes Win9x but working in W2K,WXP)
I made a quick test under W98 - extraction works for me under W98 too (7zip.wcx V0.4.3). What are the reasons for this restriction in readme.txt?
Because I forgot to get rid of that one 8)
TW wrote:1 thing is a bit annoying. if the filenames are encrypted, it asks you again for the password bfore extracting. and if we just want to view some files, it asks again for every single file.
Sorry.. but for the moment there's no sensible solution for that, as there's no way to keep handle to listed and extracted archive in one time due TC API implementation.
So my plugin doesn't know that the password was put there before. I can somehow store the password & file path in registry, but that's not perfect solution.

Ahhh.... I pushed it into 0.4.4a.

Thank you all for your support.

If you use V0.4.x you should change the value from 7 to 87

Code: Select all

7z=87,%COMMANDER_PATH%\PlugIns\Packer\7zip\7zip.wcx
If you did that you can delete your association with exe=...7zip.wcx. (see german thread [Erledigt] 2 kleinere Probleme...)

Two suggestions
1st: optional location for configuration (7zip.ini) should be same location like wincmd.ini (instead of plugin directory)
2nd: true multilanguage support - setting of language file should be an entry of 7zip.ini (only usefull if 1st is realized)

background for both: multiuser installation of a programm

Thanks. :D

Hi!

Firstly I wish to say thank you for this great plugin!

bug (?):
When I created an encrypted archive, opened it, appears the password dialog, and after some idle time in the background the TC goes 'Not responding' state... (maybe you didn't used modal window :?: )
(WinXPSP2, TC6.5)

Here is the hungarian translation 8)

:) Hello !
- Two plugins with close file-names are annoying, indeed… Especially when they must process the same archive-type.
So best way would be uninstall & install the plugin using TC 6.5 autoinstall.
- Ok, I will wait for your "Silent update" to get a program working fine in French :P
However, I will not use the TC functions for the handlings…

 Kind regards,
Claude

Hello!

I would rather like to praise this excellent plugin and I do indeed: it's one of the best and most useful TC plugins. :!:

But now I cannot avoid to report an annoying problem. When I select files from a search and by feeding the search results to a listbox, subsequently packing them with the 7zip Plugin always results in un-usable archives - IF subdirectories and path informations are stored. The contents of the archive can be viewed within TC, but extraction fails ("Read error!). Always. Tested on three systems (W98, ME, W2k).

The error is connected to the above selection process. If directories are selected from the ordinary TC pane and compressed to an archive (including subdirectories etc.), then everything works fine!
Grüße/Regards,
Wilhelm

Good question. Also, would I be right in assuming that absolute maximum compression with total disregard to everything else will be achieved by the following settings?

Ultra
LZMA
Dictionary size as high as possible without getting write error
255
Solid archiving checked

I'm aware of the problems you describe... now I'm on holidays just peeking time-to-time in the TC forum.

Once I'm back I'll try to fix those issues.

How to change the language file?
I translated english.lng to dutch.lng
Then copied it to the plugin dir (same as 7zip.ini) buth the plugin screen does not alter in to dutch??
Is there a entry needed in 7zip.ini?

nope but you must create the folder "lang" (without ") in the dir of the 7zipplugin and put your languagefile in there ;-)

Edit:
forget it that doesnt change anything either....
