Thanks.
But my question was where I should place those three files.
I did not ask how to modify Wincmd.ini.

When zip files are unzipped, it will pop out at least three essential files.
My question is where I should place those three files before I do anything.
It sounds too stupids, but it is an issue for people who were not trainined in computer science. Again, the Readme.txt did not mention how to, assuming that all TC users are computer gurus like the author. Cobras

Did your read the Reame.txt your self?
Real men never read readmes, readmes are for girls and ladies only.
It only described how to change icons:
"to change the buttonbar icons, select 'configuration'->'buttonbar'". It did not say where those three files should be copied onto.
No?
INSTRUCTIONS:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

To use the icons, follow these few steps:

1. to change the buttonbar icons, select 'configuration'->'buttonbar'
and exchange the desired icons one by one in the according dialog

2. to get the icons for drivebar and file panel, open your WINCMD.INI
(Menu 'configuration'-> 'change settings files directly')
and insert/modify the following lines in the section [configuration]:
(adjust the paths to the location where you copied the icons to)

to change the DRIVE icons, insert:
drivelib=%COMMANDER_PATH%\[path_to_drive_icons]\vicons3_drivebar.dll

to change the FILE PANEL icons, insert:
IconLib=%COMMANDER_PATH%\[path_to_file_icons]\vicons3_filepanel.icl

If you're not sure where WINCMD.INI is located on your system, choose
'about' in the help menu, this dialog shows you the actual location
of TCs config files.

well, I didn't mention that because its completely up to you where copy the iconlibs to, I thought this was obvious...

But I'll add a line or two in the readme for my next release...

icfu,

You are out of the line. I do not inted to start a flame war but I think that you shoul take a re-education training in Cambodia. Real men, girls and ladies! What the heck are you talking about! With that kind of the mentality, you should dare think about coming to the western world. If you live in Africa, you could ignore my warning. Cobras

I totally agree with you. It would appear that Icfu as well as not reading readme's has not read the Forum rules either. As a Power Member I would have thought he should have more respect for users of the forum. His attitude is counter productive and will only deter new users from Total Commander.

This is a kind of humor you may not really understand.
Apart from that icfu shows in the same post his knowledge of the readme Everyone who knows icfu in this forum knows that he always reads the readme (and uses every available information) - and as Cobras already has placed about 50 posts he should know it, too.

Thanks.

Cobras, all the quoted stuff is hint enough. See %commander_path% as the path to your tc and you will understand.

Yep. Since there no 'common' - buttonbar but individual ones for each user you could not change the buttons all at once with changing a *.ic.

But you may change them by Configuration->Change Button Bar...".
Then select the icon you want to change, browse to your *.icl and select the desired icon. Then do not press 'OK' but click at the next icon to change. If you have to change many icons it could be handy to copy the path to the *.icl and paste it for each new icon. And when you replaced all icons press'OK'- button.

That way it is quite simple, I think.

Actually, I started with a half humor but was not wrtten to that effect. I am not trained in computer science. When I was in graduate school way back, there was no computer science dept in universities. I used Norton Commander (DOS) about 20 (?) years ago in order to operate IBM personal computer properly. And then found WinComander about a few years ago. I think that TC is the best utility program. I am trying to learn all tricks and treats from this forum. No hard feeling. I apologize if I offend you. Cobras
