Change default icons

Post by *on »

Hi,
it's a so laughable problem but i would like to change the appicons of total commander (titlebar, systray).
i know there's an ASPack compression on the executable of the software and i can't use resource hacker to change icons.
Do you think i'm able to change them somehow without forcing an exe-unpack?
I also would like to do the same thing with irfanview.

thanks

You don't have to change Total Commanders executable:

Just insert this line into your Wincmd.ini (section [Configuration]): IconLib=C:\IconLibrarys\MyIcons.icl

You can find an example iconlibrary here:

the icon used for the systray icon should be used for the titlebar as well.

WOW! :-)

I found a bug. I use TC for several years without buttons, folder+files icons, combobox, etc (because i can reach every function and everything with hotkeys).
I realized iconlibrary doesn't show properly (doesn't change the titlebar icon) if i select the 'No symbols' radiobutton in config/options/display - when i set it to 'only standard symbols' or 'all' the titlebar icon changes.

but it's not important because TC is really the best filemanager i know.

tell me if i should open a new topic for this but i know there is a german topic about the active path in titlebar.
is there any news? will there be any possibility in next versions to display the active path in the caption of the main window?
if you have more tc windows open you won't find out so easily which is the one you're looking for.

Well, in the next version there will be tabs that might render the active path in titlebar displaying obsolete.
