FTP: overwrite confirmation missing in certain case

Post by *SanskritFritz »

In ftp, open a file in your editor with F4. Switch back to TC, and navigate to another folder in the ftp panel. Now edit the file, save and close the editor. TC asks if you want to reupload the file, answer yes, and the file is written without the usual confirmation for overwrite.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

Confirmed.

But Im not sure to consider it a bug, because of the message after closing the editor:

"The file %s has changed. Do you want to upload it back to %s?"

Actually i like that behaviour better ;-)
I already confirmed that i want to reupload the file, so i dont think there is a need to confirm the overwrite again.
But the insonsistency is interesting, it looks like TC asks for overwrite confirmation based on the file list, so the bug is, that TC gets the wrong filelist (i guess the actual one) when searching for the file. If a file with the same name exists in the other directory, i get the confirmation dialog ;-)
Thank God, TC reuploads to the correct location nevertheless.

what?
yes you are right, that confirmation is redundant and it could be better if there is only one confitmation dialog... or you are waitng the the similar confirmation from Christian? :)

Thank God, TC reuploads to the correct location nevertheless.
Situation changed: now TC does not reupload the file, but luckily leaves the file in the temp folder. This behaviour is much worse than the previous.

Why is it worse? Isn't it better to not upload anything than to upload to a wrong location?

I have just compared the relevant function with version 6.53 - it's 100% identical! Have you seen any differences between 6.53 and 6.54 pubbeta 1?

True. Most probably i pressed No instead of Yes. Actually the behaviour is better in that TC now switches back to the folder where the file is. Anyway it is no big deal really.
