Select files not present in the other directory (by name)
Hi,
I have 2 directories, one (dir A) with 300 and the other (dir B) with 75 files.
I would like to select (in order to rename them) the files in A which are not present in B.
Note that the files in A and B have different contents and date, my selection needs only to be based on the filenames.
The files are the ones that you would have in the "synchronize dirs " window when you use it with "ignore date", "subdirs" and the singles button pressed.
My problem is that I would like to have those files marked, I don't need/want to move them to another dir.
Can you help?
TIA

Just a workaround:moondog wrote:Shift + F2 unfortunately selects the newer files too,
not only the files missing in the other directory.
I just want those files selected (the ones present on one side and not in the other), disregarding the date or content.
1 go to the directory you want to copy from
2. select all
3. Ctrl+u to swap the panels
4. Num/ to restore the selection
5. Num* to toggle the selction
Now all files that do not exist in the opposite pane are selected.

Here it works indeed without saving the selection.
But without swapping panels I had to save the section to file and load it from there to make it work.

Yes, that's what I understood.
But here the selection is saved automatically and I can restore it after the pane switch.
Before I had this idea to switch panels I tried it with save selection, too. But it did not work. I had to save the selection to a file instead.
