Can't get the ftp to work on win ce version?

Post by *Mog89 »

:(
Can I get some help with steps on how to connect to an ftp site.
Currently my CE is connected to the internet but I when I launch total commander I do not see where I am supposed to go to start an ftp connection. None of the buttons seem to launch an ftp connect. please help.

All plugins including FTP can be found in the root of the file system under a folder named "\\". This will be renamed to "\\Plugins" in TC/CE 2.5 to make it easier to find.

so do i go to the plugin area before i launch total commander or is this this something i do after total commander is launched.

Or a better questions would be how do I activate the plugin?

Sorry I'm really not very computer sauvy.

Better yet is there an help file with step by step instructions on how to connect using the windows ce version?

No, IN Total Commander/CE, you need to go to the root by clicking on the "\" button, and then go inside the "\\" subidrectory and then the "FTP" subdirectory. Here you can create new connections. Btw, for uploads you will need to use the 2 window mode, or better the virtual 2 window mode.

I tried going to the ftp folder while running total commander and tried double-clicking the the ftp.tfx file and it gives me an error of 'There is no application associated with'ftp'. Run the application first, then open this file with the application.'

I have tried both opening the file within total commander and just through windows with the same response.

Please advise.

Ok so which step am I doing wrong?

You said " IN Total Commander/CE, you need to go to the root by clicking on the "\" button, and then go inside the "\\" subidrectory and then the "FTP" subdirectory. Here you can create new connections "

So how do I create new connections when I am here?
Is there a button I push?

None of the pull down menus have a create connection button.

I have no mobile device to run TC on. But isn't there afolder /file named 'new connection' in the folder \\ftp\ ?

yes there is.

@Mog89;: just double click on the "New Connection" entry and a wizard pops up.
