No I don't - the unpack password dialog appears immediately.

I don't have a video recorder prog. - and I am not keen on installing one - unless you can recommend one that does absolutely not write in Windows Registry and that only installs files in its own directory?

Well in my opinion videos are the best way to demonstrate wired behaviors. I personally use Camstudio 2.0. It writes INI files to its' own directory.

OK - I downloaded Camstudio (DemoStudio didn't seem to be available anymore from http://sourceforge.net/projects/demostudio/ ).

I included the long freeze period of TC, so you can get an idea of its length - but what I can't really show is how slow my computer becomes after this test until I reboot - then everything is fine.

I am using a 3.0 GHZ Pentium4 machine.

I wouldn't call this a freeze. It looks more like very long delay - really strange!

Could you please provide the sample file. This should reduce the test complexity.

Can anyone reproduce the behavior described by petermad and?

It would be also interesting to know if this happens in Squeez or SpeedCommander on your machine.

Try and open that file, then view (F3) the file TotalSQX.ini (password: yy) - then close the file and view the file liesmich.htm (password: xx).

Hello Peter !

- I can open the archive with a 2-click, nothing is requested prior.
- I can confirm : it takes ages to view the first file for which you request F3, especially after getting the password to unpack…
- With a second try - while TC has been closed in the meantime - that works quite normally… With a third try, the plugin asks for the UNPACK password endlessly to view a file by F3…

- I noticed : the Temp dir used is one in <Application Data\Claude\… Impossible to localize it precisely because the path is truncated…
- The stated path in TotalSQX options is not that, it's E:\Temp_zip

Under XP-Pro P4 @ 2.4 GHz - 512 MiB of DD-AM

That means nothing but wrong password.

Any progress on the other problems you discovered?

Second open liesmich.htm (password: xx)

- A detail, though : When an archive has been opened once and the Listing password given, you can open it again at will for the whole TC-session… Indeed, it's handy for tests, but maybe a few less secure, i.e. in a Company, supposing that a undesirable <someone> be looking at the screen, or can read a content despite s¦he has not the password while the user is drinking a coffee

These are two different things. The temp dir which can be set in total sqx options is used by the sqx library operations only. TC uses the system's temp directory when displaying the file in Lister.

- Then nothing is demanded to view the others.
• Close¦restart TC :
- The xx unpack pasword is needed to view the same <TotalSQX.ini> file, then nothing for the others, in any order…

• In the case under XP-Pro, that temp dir is quasi-impossible to find out, like I told above, and that doesn't help to see if some files are still in it while they wouldn't…
- Moreover, there is a bloody crappy long path with legion of spaces, that is always boring, I guess. So, a request to Ch. Ghisler in order to use another shorter path to a well known folder easy to reach ?

What would you propose?

• It's ticklish, but maybe an adjustable timer in the Options, or via INI entries or so ?

There is something wrong there - I just downloaded the file and I get the checksum: 8bd01929dbb7f1a0f149414614184821

How can you have another checksum ?
