No lock…

:) Hello !

• I guess this is neither quite desirable, nor wished by all users…
- Anyway, if you have changed the 50%-position accidentally, you have just to right-click on the slider,
then choose “50%” in the local menu.
• Faster :  You can install a button in a bar for the command :
cm_50percent=909
- Indeed, type EITHER cm_50percent OR 909 on the line "Command" to set the button…

Claude

I totally agree with Clo.

And in additon to his advice I propose to set a hotkey to this cm_50percent command

Configuration->Options->Misc: Redefine Hotkeys(Keyboard remapping):

Just select a appropriate hotkey (e.g Alt + 5) and assign the cm_50percent to it.

thanks again for the advices but..

i really dont understand why ppl like complicating their ways..

are we here for easing the software or complicating it by 1000 ways?

a 1000 hotkeys for a 1000 functions for EVERY program that i have to use..
who likes to memorize them?

i insist on requesting this locking function.

1. trying to right click on the slider is time consuming, hard. :)=
2. adding a hotkey or button doesnt suit for a property like this, coz it s not used too much. it s there to set the viewing standard for whole time.

Free to request…

:) Hello !
I insist on requesting this locking function.
¤ You are free to do ! :D
• However, I can tell you - without details- that such a locking should cause many issues with regard to new features in the next 7.0 new version on tests currently, where the separator needs to be moved automatically a lot… and more.
…a 1000 hotkeys for a 1000 functions for EVERY program that I have to use…
who likes to memorize them?
:P Hum… Let hang a large board from the ceiling above your monitor ?
• Seriously, I agree here, I prefer to use buttons :
- ¼ second to click, when you have explicit icons (I draw my own ones to be sure they are ! )
- Besides, I can't use the keyboard a lot for some handicap reasons…

• Well, just wait and see for the Author's opinion now, ours are expressed… ;)

Claude

Sorry, we don't want to complicate things.

It is just the following:

1. There is no way to lock the divider (neither at 50% nor at any other position).

2. Reading this forum frequently will show you that there are many feature request, and most of them desired and supported by a lot of users. Neverthless @ghisler can not implement a tenth of them, at least not in a short time.

Thus your request (most probably) would not be implemented soon and we just wanted to give you advice to workaround.

i dont agree with you.

at every page refresh, the program can look for an option from the good old settings.ini (which gives us the option to lock it at whatever %) and then refresh the page according to it.. i m not a real programmer but an amateur. thus, i dont know if it would be implemented fast, coz it would check the file for every refresh.

thanks again for the info, but i already know these side effects. :)=

finally, whatever the possibility is, i was here to share my idea for tc to be known by the coder. that s all.

We are talking about how it is now, not about how it might be in the future, if implemented.

As it is currently not implemented, we're trying to suggest alternate ways of alleviating your problem until it is implemented (if ever).

...

have u seen any question on this topic where i asked for alternatives?

this is a request topic as its title says. thanks for all advices for alternatives but i m not here to solve my problem.
finally, whatever the possibility is, i was here to share my idea for tc to be known by the coder. that s all.
that s why i wrote this sentence. i m not here to argue. please, all.

You don't need to be upset.
Sometimes the altenatives might turn out to suit you much better than the original request.
We board member can anyway do little for a feature to actually get implemented. But we can always think of workarounds...

My suggestion:
-To use the contextmenu of the window divider for this feature.
-Show the status of the contextmenu with a checkbox mark. [v] 50/50
-Write its value into the settingsfile.
-If this is set, there will be no way to "accidentally click & change its position"
-because moving the splitter won't be availlable for this function untill...Pos.1

For those who does look for alternatives: There is another feature with Ctrl + Left Mouse Button,
described in the TC -Wiki: Position of window divider

Kind regards

It's no problem at all to lock the slider with an AHK script, just hide TPanel1 control.

Oh, that's a workaround, I feel guilty for having mentioned it of course!

if it s a real workaround i may accept it, why not? :)

but i never used that autohotkey script or whatever. and that means going more advanced and giving time for something which can be easily done from the main program as an option, where it starts to turn to my "1000 hotkeys for 1000 programs" idiom.

anyway, again thanks for the workaround advices, ppl..
