can you make the path field longer?
Oops. I occasionally limited input length to the field width. I'll remove this limitation in the next version.

New version available.

- Increased length of input fields.

FSE on Win98?

Post by *Robert Bull »

I have FSE working properly at work, on Win2k with TC 6.56 and Locate 3.something. Here at home I have Win98SE, TC 6.56 and Locate32 3.0 build 7.0490. FSE isn't working, always saying No files found. Locate32 on its own works fine.

Any suggestions, please?

Sorry, I haven't Win9x and I cannot test what happens on this platform. I can give you general recomendation only.

1. Run command.com and try to find files via locate.exe. If you unable to find files either, you have to contact with Locate32 author.

2. If full name to Locate32 folder contain spaces - reinstall Locate into different folder or copy whole Locate32 folder into another folder (i.e. c:\locate32).

And last
... Locate32 3.0 build 7.0490.
I hope you mean build 4090 (last one). If not - upgrade your Locate32.

PS. Why you still running Win98?

New version was released.

Main changes are:
- Added saving/loading of search result
- Added configuration dialog
- Key "DefDatabase" in "Locate" section of FSE.ini was renamed to "Database" (like in saved queries)

Excellent plugin, thanks to your plugin I knew the existence of Locate32.

[BUG]
- The config dialog doesn't update de FSE.ini file when I change "Limit search to XXX entries" (actually I'd like no limit at all).

[BUG]?
- Editing the FSE.ini doesn't have effect until you restart TC.

Write cm_UnloadPlugins in the comand line.
But I also think that checking modification time would be good.

Thanks, I'll fix this bug in the next version.

It hasn't effect until you reload plugin. It isn't a bug. As m^2 wrote meanwhile you can use cm_UnloadPlugins command. After fixing the previous bug it will be unnecessary.

VadiMGP,

Is the latest version of FSE always the one posted in the first message in this thread? New versions don't have new file names that include version numbers, or anything like that?

TIA...

I can't get this plugin to work.... plug-in installs OK, i get FSE search dialog , it shows corectly which database to search in.... but i always get "No files found matching your request". Locate32 is working OK when I press WIN+F.

I put locate32 program into folder which doesn't contain spaces. I have the latest locate32 verson 3.0.7.11040.

Any idea why it is not working? What I have missed?

Thx :D

I had the same error, then downgraded to 3.0.7.9220, reindexed the databases, upgraded to the latest version and reindexed the databases a second time and now it works. Very strange...

The problem is in file locate.exe from version 3.0.7.11040.

Don't upgrade Locate32 from 3.0.7.9220 to 3.0.7.11040 if you use Locate32 with FSE only.

Anyway, if you want to upgrade Locate32 to 3.0.7.11040 just keep file locate.exe (not locate32.exe!) from previous version (3.0.7.9220).

I tried this plugin.
It works fine with latest Locate32 beta.

Is it possible to create a icon to FSE in the toolbar?
