I did not try "unknown filetype" feature yet but I have small idea:
maybe TrID engine could be useful for you?

It would be awesome to have "More info" which could show what kind of file it may be.

All accellerator keys (hotkeys) in the navigator part seems not to be working.

Is it correct that the use of strings 206, 215 and 218 is not yet implemented?

you mean A, S, Ctrl+O etc? they work in Viewer only, Nav has only Ctrl+H, F4, F5 Alt-F1 keys.

… or do you mean that they must be removed ? Please, set a clear indication in that case, a simple dash isn't meaningful to me …

• Yes, it does ! And the binary dump is shown as expected with a 2-click on the message area.
- I tested a *.GFIE image (multi-layer), of course not supported

Yes, a minus (or dash) has always meant removed strings in UV's .lng files.

There is not any hotkey in any menu (Nav and main) here in French…

I still have them in the main program (both in the menus and in the dialogs) - here they are only missing in nav....

And the binary dump is shown as expected with a 2-click on the message area.

I can do it with a 1-click

i may integrate TrId as a panel showing "this file type is ........ as reported by trid". Or it can be the button added in the butonbar saying "run trid with filename"

For me button is OK. I just thought that it might be nice feature for new users.

Yes but there is TrID library available for download. There is even code for Delphi (both: lib sources and demo app). It's less than than 100 lines.

The only problem lies in licensing ("free for non commercial, personal, research and educational use") but it shouldn't be so bad to treat it as additional module. If DLL exists in UniversalViewer path use, it if not - make a note on website about additional feature (you have it already for lister plugins).

P.S. "Unknown filetype" works great here.

Here no roots exist a:\ c:\ d:\ e:\ f:\ g:\ h:\ i:\ k:\ m:\ u:\ according to UV.

Tested with all 4 combinations of DrivesExportUpcase= and
DrivesShowUpcase=

so it will be like .exe, this DLL. Just another file. And the license, not free. the note about dll is like about .exe, usr has to install it in any way.
