I must say that there were numerous cases where I end up deleting/copying/moving the wrong file because both panels are highlighted which gives the impression that I'm deleting or moving or even copying the right file.

I'm not entirely sure if the inverted cursor highlighting mechanism would be more appealing and telling to the user that you are deleting the wrong file. It seems (to me at least) that the border highlighting on its own may not be self sufficient at times especially for people that have harder time distinguishing between the different border colors (inactive and active border colors).

To summarize, I would really incourage having the option to select inverted colors because it would really give the user more insight on the selected file or folder that they're dealing with.

That's it for me

It happened two more times and I thought I should see if anyone is experiencing issues related to misjudgments or bad assumptions?

No - but I have always used an inverted cursor for the ACTIVE panel - so I have no problems distinguishing the two cursors.

Thanks petermad. I can't believe I miss that option "use inverted cursor" in the color tab. It now looks a lot clearer.

The only solution that I can see, is to make the 2nd cursor fully customizeable.
Otherwise, the user is forced to use the inverted cursor.

Ghisler,

With the release of TC 8.0 final, when do you expect to have a menu option to provide a more user friendly configuration for the inactive cursor?

I prefer the TwinKey solution, where the inactive panel can be set to a gradient background, e.g:
The inactive panel's selected files in TC 7.x with twinkey for myself is solid purple background to the furthest left, and fades to transparency after about an inch (to the right).
*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.

Probably not, it's too confusing for the average user.
