I'll agree with him on that. It would be much simpler if a screen with all the "history" options existed, the user could check them and press a button to clear them. Personally i didn't remember / know all the history options that exist in TC but thanks to petermad, we now have an extensive list of them.

- Like Stance, Stitscher and wanderer got alright, I wish only a built-in feature, like all other programmes have, but not TC !

- Do you think that's easy for newbies and average users (in offices, etc., plus Aunty Agatha!) to set (fake) redirected INIs or use extra tools, while they can get the same results elsewhere from a set of buttons in the Options or directly from the lists ?

Hello,

I fully agree, but let be realistic there are more than 1000 requests in the wishlist of Ch. Ghisler. So in the meantime we have to use workarounds either in AHK or third party tools and it is part of the fun. At least this is my philosophy

- Such a built-in "Clean lists" feature is basic, I wonder that it doesn't exist in TC, and it might come at the top of the Author's wish / ToDo lists !

- Now, TC is getting so "unbalanced" :
On one hand, pretty advanced features - not usable by the most newbies -,
and on the other hand, such lacunaæ…

I support a built-in Clean / Purge page, like Clo and other supporters said.

Basically I also agreed with Clo. I just added some appreciation for the section redirection feature which I missed in Clo's post.

I totally agree with both. Although section redirection works fine for me, 99,5% of users will never know there's such option.

The problem is if Ch. Ghisler adds a new feature with history, most users here may not notice this and miss to set a new redirect. Private information might be revealed. So it would be better if the author of TC makes a function and takes care that it will always be updated according to the features.

Another way to delete history sections in tcmdr.ini for more privacy is
with the help of a tiny but mighty tool called NirCmd (to find here).
For easy use copy NirCmd to the %windir% or a directory within the
path environment.

Use it with the following command syntax:
NirCmd inidelsec [INI filename] [section]

Create a batch file with a line for every section you want to delete,
for example (you must customise path and name to your needs):

nircmd inidelsec "%appdata%\TCmdr\tcmdr.ini" RightHistory
nircmd inidelsec "%appdata%\TCmdr\tcmdr.ini" LeftHistory
nircmd inidelsec "%appdata%\TCmdr\tcmdr.ini" RenameTemplates
...

Assign a buttonbar button to this batch file and from now on delete
the sections with a click.

With NirCmd you can even delete or set a key-value pair inside INI files:
NirCmd inisetval [INI filename] [section] [key] [value]

• Hm… (bis) Switching to Unicode was the main target of the TC 7.5. So, some important additions were forgotten, I guess.
- Maybe a reasonable approach should be to get a native <History.ini> containing the records
(*which ones* is to define precisely, indeed), able to be purged very easily like friends and I wish here for ages…
- Hard to get for 7.5 final, but perhaps for a next fix version, not too late…

Thank you Clo for replying. I redirected everything to history.ini.
If anyone starts a poll on this issue, count me in, even if I don't log back in.
I've pretty much solved all my questions so far as a first time TC user and I noticed quite a few features in SpeedCommander that TC still doesn't carry.
Glad we have a place to make our voices heard.

I redirected all garbage to a separate INI too. And now I can just delete this file to clear all history) And no need in such function. BTW, with separate INI any external tool may work, so we don't need to add such stuff to TC code.
