Instant quit on unpacking archives

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

One more thing - when I disable all ContextMenu shell extensions (except WinRAR's one) "sudden death" still occurs (without menu "hack").
What else can I try?

Can NOT reproduce with WinRAR 3.62 / W2k SP4.

2ManiusNG:
Did you test your RAM for hardware errors?
I had some strange data errors on a machine only while copying to USB-devices. Source of this error was a defective RAM-chip, after replacing it everything was fine.

A good tester is i.e. ctramtst.zip, but it will need a DOS boot medium to run (Win9x in DOS-Mode should also do).
Who the hell is General Failure, and why is he reading my disk?

@StatusQuo
Yeah, no hardware errors. I've ran some memtest86 and Prime.

My detailed hardware config:

I read from your system report, that you use NOD32 as virus-scanner.

Does the problem "sudden death" also occur, when NOD32 is temporarily disabled?

Nod32 (at least in version 2.x) seems to have a problem with some archive files containing long filenames:
