ARRIBA, ARRIBA (UP)

Hi, I did a little tool for this purpose, If anyone is interested on it, can be downloaded from here: http://www.breto.net/totalcmd/archivos/Alternative_F7.zip
Please, read the text file "readme.txt" for the installation. F1 for shortcuts.

I have a version a bit more advanced with templates and variables with dates (day, month, year...) but it isn't finished. If anyone is interested, I'll try finish it. (I can't promise when)

TC is a file manager with DUAL PANEL then... Why limit the function of new directory to one panel? Please C. Ghisler, Could you consider it :?:
(be different to explorer ;) )
I can read English, but... I write like Tarzan. (sorry)

I just tried your tool. The dialog pops up alright, but it doesn't make any folders.

I even tried with a blank ini file for TC, just to rule out any exotic settings of my TC.

EDIT: Now I figured it out - I had to press Shift+Enter to have it make the dir in the opposite panel.

May I suggest that the default panel is set to the opposite side - we already have the build-in F7 for making directories in the current panel.

Hi
I had to press Shift+Enter to have it make the dir in the opposite panel
I forgot say it. :| I have updated a bit the readme.txt for to clarify about the behaviour of this addon.
May I suggest that the default panel is set to the opposite side - we already have the build-in F7 for making directories in the current panel.
The reason of this behaviour is because my initial goal was to try replace the default function of TC for make directories with this tool, assigning F7 as a short-cut to this tool. But I never finished it.

ADDED:

Try change the parameters: "%P" "%T" "%O" by "%T" "%P" "%O" then you can obtain the desired resulted.

Here is another solution without external tools, using md in %comspec%:

(Thanks to icfu).

However, internal solution would be nice, of course.

SUPPORT!! +++++

I often, and more and more, would like to create a folder in the target panel without having to tab back and forth, since the naming of it comes from a source panel file/folder.
So YES to cm_MkDirOtherPanel (whatever way...).

A) I'm not a techie, but it sounds like the switch called for could be similar to the move/rename file dialogue switches, OR the edit/view config window, where we choose by radio button what key/behavior we want

B) I'm not a techie, but I know I'd like to configure the 2 MakeFolder functions with 2 HotKeys (F7 make here / S+F7 make there...)

C) BIG REQUEST: automatically open the folder created in the other panel!! (behavior maybe controlled by ini setting) Since I'm creating it to put something in it and don't want to tab back and forth I always have the need to have it opened already:

[simple scenario: a) list of files to place in another nonexisting folder b) S+F7 with name suggested from file under cursor in source creates and opens folder in target panel c) * (or C+Num+, or A+Num+...) d) F6 e) Enter]

Buon lavoro, Christian (roughly translates from Italian to "may your work be pleasant").

The tool is nice, but I have a few things I don't like:
- it doesn't handle normal slash like TC does
- startup time is a bit slow

Can you please make the source code available? As a programmer I would like to contribute.
