why not Alt-F9, Delete, Enter?

This is a hack which I never got used to. YOu could also ask: "Why cm_samepanel exists if you can delete the target path in the copy dialog to copy to the same dir?

I use TC in "dual Explorer mode". Only part of the time is the "opposite" panel actually a target for an action. Other times it is just another path context for a task I am performing concurrently with another, unrelated task happening in the other panel.

I've been multitasking this way in TC for years, hence my support for your "same" panel suggestions AND my requests for enhancements to the dialogs. They BOTH apply to my use of TC, if not yours.

Keeping the "opposite" panel solely as a "target" panel is an unnecessarily restrictive employment of dual file lists, which support many different behavior paradigms.

The FreeCommander developer (among others) understands this. Check out FC's F5, F6, and Alt-F5 dialogs to see what I mean.

Lefteous, I don't think JohnCFred is meaning to be brusque in saying 'limited view'. I agree with you about targetting. It's just one way of looking at TC.

I'll add that click-consistency is important in the UI - single or double, but just one. The Vista dialog boxes mix the two and it's very disconcerting.
