Quick search filter - make permanent

I would also support this feature
please see the UI of freecomander's Quick Filter for a nice implementation without clumsy hotkeys etc.
O.k. checked the beta meanwhile.

CTRL+S is not a big problem (at least for me) ... but it should be
! search as you type - SUBSTRING - filter (like in freecommander) !
Thank you

My opinion about this suggestion differs a bit. I would like to use default QS, but in some cases turn filter on W/O leaving Ctrl+S button pressed - i.e. next time I use QS and like to use filtering I press button again.
I think, this should be customizable. Also, each tab should remember its Ctrl+S state (on/off).
I look at QS in FreeCommander. There is something. But not perfect - status bar may have no space for such filter. I think, it will be nice to have two (upper and bottom) QS edit fields. And an option to choose default active line on show QS dialog. First field - w/o filtering. Second should filter files. Option like QuickSearchFields=3 (1 show only first, 2 show only scond, 3 show both - each can choose preferred QS type and leave only one field). Also to allow user to select hotkey for switching fields.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
Not exactly. This parameter is good for topic starter - QuickSearchAutoFilter=1 solves his problem. Try to explain my case. I start TC - filtering disabled. I start QS - filter disabled. I enable filter - it applies. But when I next time start TC or QS, filter button again disables - it always disabled until I enable it, but only for one QS, in the next QS it again disabled. Reason: I use standard QS function, but when I need to quick filter items, I enable filter, but only for once. Next time I open QS (after disappearing filter - Esc/F2/change dir/something else) - I have standard QS again, and so on. So, perhaps I need some QuickSearchAutoFilter=-2 or smth. similar (currently is absent).Hacker wrote:QuickSearchAutoFilter=-1?MVV wrote:I would like to use default QS, but in some cases turn filter on W/O leaving Ctrl+S button pressed - i.e. next time I use QS and like to use filtering I press button again.

This is exactly what QuickSearchAutoFilter=-1 does. How is what you are trying to achieve different from the description above?I start TC - filtering disabled. I start QS - filter disabled. I enable filter - it applies. But when I next time start TC or QS, filter button again disables - it always disabled until I enable it, but only for one QS, in the next QS it again disabled.

Not exactly. QuickSearchAutoFilter=-1 makes filter always disabled at TC startup. My wish - to have filter always disabled at each quick search start, but to have ability to enable it only for one search.Hacker wrote:MVV,This is exactly what QuickSearchAutoFilter=-1 does. You can use the search "Letters only" to separate Ctrl+S and quick search completely. This way you can even quick search while a quick filter is active.

Ah indeed, you are right, I thought it already worked as you described.MVV wrote:Not exactly. QuickSearchAutoFilter=-1 makes filter always disabled at TC startup. My wish - to have filter always disabled at each quick search start, but to have ability to enable it only for one search.
Support++ for values -2 and +3.

Sorry, but I don't know how to move between satisfying items w/o QS dialog. Or it is unreal in this case?ghisler(Author) wrote:You can use the search "Letters only" to separate Ctrl+S and quick search completely. This way you can even quick search while a quick filter is active.
If QS filter enables only for one search, it can be applied more than one time - as when we use cm_ShowOnlySelected and QS filter after. So maybe just to add another button onto QS dialog - to show only matches but w/o filter icon (as when ShowOnlySelected used)?
