I hoped so too, but I've read many discussions on programmers forums about the matter, everyone there confirmed that it was impossible to load unsigned or self-signed drivers in x64 (among those were many professionals, MVPs and driver programming experts).forsberg wrote:I really hope that's wrong. It's not the worst. These 300 bucks should be paid not once but every year, and even more, a programmer needs to create a company of its own to be able to buy a signature — he cannot buy it being a mere physical person.forsberg wrote:Anyone making a freeware or a plugin for TC is not going to pay 300$ to micro$oft and if they do its not a freeware anymore.
I looked at MagicDisc. (Is that it? I supposed that your "MagicDisk" was just misspelling.) It seems that its driver is signed with normal fully-paid valid signature. Besides, when I installed it onto my Win7 x64 virtual machine, there were no messages about problems with driver signatures at all.forsberg wrote:Btw, i have W7 x64 and I installed MagicDisk yesterday and i got the same message "Windows is unable to verify the driver signature" and the application works perfectly.
Well, as for me, one is more than enough.gigaman wrote:I thought we were talking about drivers... how many plugins require its own driver code?
Besides, people want to use other software, not only TC and plugins, and all other programs that require drivers for work will be restricted by the same problem.
