The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

at first you do QUERYDIR(DIRECTORY/*) and then
QUERYDIR(DIRECTORY/SUBDIR1) ; QUERYDIR(DIRECTORY/SUBDIR2)
isnt it so?
Yes, TC uses this to get additional information for individual files or directories if this information wasn't retrieved initially, e.g. when requesting special plugin data, icons etc.
