Thanks, I will try to find out what they are doing.

I checked the code, but unfortunately they don't use the HttpClient at all. After 4 hours of debugging, searching for the kernel sources (Android on kernel.org is still down) and experimenting I finally found a working solution. Please contact me (beta at ghisler dot com) for a pre-release version of the plugin.
