[8.0ß23 x32] Variable delay in the breadcrumb bar

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

That sounds more like your system is freezing, not just the background thread in TC. Virus scanner?
No, everything else works alright, and it happens with or without virus scanner enabled. Actually, most often when I put focus on some other program and then put it back on TC, then the breadcrumb menu/submenu opens up right away.

Same thing if I cannot make the breadcrumb menu (still only virtual folders) close again (that also happens) - then taking focus away from TC and putting it back makes the breadcrumb menu close. At other times doing so just puts the breadcrumb menu itself in front (without TC), so that I have the breadcrumb menu on top of some other application.

Hi, I can reproduce practically everything from your last two posts, but ONLY in a virtual machine and not only for the 32b version but for the 64b version too. However I don't think it's the same problem as the one I'm describing.

My troubles also affects both 32bit and 64 bit TC, it is actually worse in 64bit version.

I have just got hold of two new labtops with virgin Windows 7 x64 installations, and they work OK, with very small delays for the virtual folder items, except for the "Network" item.

One difference that I have noticed between these two new PC's and my troubled Win 7 PC, is that a lot of the Windows junctions in C:\ProgramData and C:\Users are duplicated in Danish in the troubled PC, but not in the two new PC's.

Here are all the junctions on the PC which is extremely slow when using breadcrumbs for virtual folders:

All the folder junctions marked with an asterisk are duplicates in Danish (I have paired them next to each other in this list). Those of you - who are not using an US/EN Windows 7 x64 - do you have similar duplicates in your language :?:

Wonder if I dare delete the Danish junctions to see if it helps ?

Yes, I have them too on my German Windows 7. Why should they cause problems with virtual folders?

Why should they cause problems with virtual folders
Maybe some kind of unwanted looping - I don't know - I just observed that I do not have these junctions on the two new Win 7 PC's, where I also dont have any problems with the virtual folders breadcrumb menu.

1. I don't think it has anything to do with those additional junctions. As I said before, I can reproduce your issues on all my virtual machines (different Windows versions; mix of VMWare and VirtualBox) but on none of my real computers. And all those computers use an english version of Windows.
2. Again, while I can reproduce your issues, they are not the same as I reported in this thread. Maybe we should not mix them together.

I'm sorry, I couldn't reproduce this problem. Moving to "will not be changed".

As petermad has noticed, starting with TC 8.01 RC1, the breadcrumb-bar is suddenly working properly. With TC 8.01, I can no longer see those random delays mentioned in my opening post and the breadcrumb-bar opens immediately, not after switching focus from and then back to TC. Thanks!

I made some small changes in parts of the code which might be responsible for the slowness, but I could never reproduce the problem myself...
