There's no such feature. The behavior was actually a bug that has now been corrected. If you are desperate to have the "feature" you will have to use an older version of Total Commander (before v6.02) and in addition have WinXP as your OS.fqt wrote:Hi, DblClick over an empty area doesn't up/down a dir anymore, anyone tell me how to launch the feature matually in version 6.03a?
To my humble opinion though it's madness to follow this step as you sacrifice a whole list of bug fixes for a "feature" which potentially can case other non-yet-detectable problems.

What does 'matually' mean? My dictionary doesn't know it.fqt wrote:Hi, DblClick over an empty area doesn't up/down a dir anymore, anyone tell me how to launch the feature matually in version 6.03a?

Actually it is a bug of the WinXP implementation of the Listbox control, and not a mouse gesture...

I fully agree to remove this behaviour. It was not a feature but an error in the component listbox. Therefore it should be "thrown away" since using such undocumented behaviours may lead to some program instability or other problems. For those who liked the feature - be brave! As time passes you will forget it. And the new functions will fill the emptiness and bring joy of using TC!
But seriously - there is a workaround - instead of clickin on emply space just press enter - and the selected program will execute, even if you scroll down the list to other place and the name is not visible. Also if you want to return to that name - press Arrow UP and then ArrowDown. I now this is obvious for keyboard users but for mouse users it may not be a popular practice.

Yes, we know the latter was a feature suggestion other than a location of the type of the error.ghisler(Author) wrote:Actually it is a bug of the WinXP implementation of the Listbox control, and not a mouse gesture...

However, it saves a lot of mouse movement (and less strain on my finger).
This is the only reason I do not upgrade on my laptop.
Could you bring this back as a feature?
Thanks.
Indeed. I have the same problem.
After this long i would really like to move to new version, but everytime i try it out i miss this "bug" too much. It makes mouse interaction so much easier this way. Please ghisler, would you consider reimplementing this feature?
P.S.: And besides, someone pointed out that you could open virus unintentionally this way. Well, if you are advanced enough to have viruses laying around your computer and not being infected already, you are safe to use this feature.

I see that many people liked this "bug-feature".
So, Christian, what about such a suggestion: to implement executing the cm_GoToParent command when the user performs double-click on the empty area (of course, this feature should be optional). This will make the users happier and also will be free from the danger of starting some program - 'cause it will always perform only the command specified, not the program under cursor.
What do you think about such an improvement?
