Here are my steps. (Tested on Windows XP)

Setup:
* Unzip TC8.50rc3 32bit to c:\tctest
* Run c:\tctest\TOTALCMD.exe /i=c:\tctest\wincmd.ini /f=c:\tctest\wcx_ftp.ini
* Create ftp connection named "tctest" (I used an anonymous login to a ftp server)
* Check if ftp connection works OK
* Put your license file wincmd.key in c:\tctest\

Test FTPOPEN parameter:
* Run c:\tctest\TOTALCMD.exe FTPOPEN:tctest /i=c:\tctest\wincmd.ini /f=c:\tctest\wcx_ftp.ini
Result: Folder in left panel changes to c:\

* Run c:\tctest\TOTALCMD.exe /O FTPOPEN:tctest /i=c:\tctest\wincmd.ini /f=c:\tctest\wcx_ftp.ini
Result: Only works if a TC window was already open.

I tried lots of things but could not get it it to work.

I couldn't get it to work at all with older versions (seems somewhat logical since support for the combination of parameter FTPOPEN and /O was added in TC 8.50).

I followed your steps with TC 8.01 and TC 8.50. Results: It only works when I put a wincmd.key in the TC directory. It cannot work when there is a 1-2-3 shareware dialog.

I forgot to mention that I already put the wincmd.key in the TC directory. Does not work!

Tested on a Windows 7 64bit system. Same results for 32bit and 64bit TC8.50rc3.

I have just testet it exactly as you have described with TC 8.50 rc3 32bit under Windows XP and with TC 8.50 rc3 32bit and 64bit under Windows 7 x64 and it works fine here.

Under Windows 7 I tried when logged on Windows both as user and as administrator, to see if that would make a difference.

I found the problem: It only works on PCs which have a drive "F"! That's because I added code which checked for the presence of the passed drives to avoid that TC hangs at start...

Aha - that's why I didn't have the problem - all my PC's have a drive F.
