Can't open media files using LAN plugin
Moderators: Hacker, petermad, Stefan2, white
I have tried the new version of the LAN plugin. The result is the same - video streaming does not work.
Interestingly, if I make a user account on the computer with a password (I use password "1"), the TC can't get access to the computer: it tries to connect, connection failed, then it prompts for a password, I enter it, it tries to connect again and so on. I Can send log, but there's nothing really interesting in it.

Does it work when you store user name and password in the plugin?

You mean it requests a password when you try to stream?

You probably have the option "master password" checked. Then TC will ask for that password to unlock the stored passwords.

I beg your pardon. I checked the connection with the computer using the ES File Explorer - this program also can not connect to my computer if non-anonymous connection is used. Perhaps the problem is that my PC with Windows XP uses simple file sharing mode. So at now I can verify access TC to network resources only with anonymous connection.
Some notice: ES File Explorer is still streaming files correctly. If I use MX Player to play video, it shows full file name at caption and the typical file name is "smb/dvk/E/NP/_DM/123" where "dvk" is server name, "E/NP/_DM/123" is network path to the file (actually, file name is "123.3gp"); "smb" I don't know what does is mean.
May be this information will help you.

That could indeed be the problem! On Wikipedia, I found this;Perhaps the problem is that my PC with Windows XP uses simple file sharing mode.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administrative_shareWindows XP implements "simple file sharing" (also known as "ForceGuest"), a feature that can be enabled on computers that are not part of a Windows domain.[6] When enabled, it authenticates all incoming access requests to network shares as "Guest", a user account with very limited access rights in Windows.
That's exactly the problem here - troubles with streaming from guest accounts.

Yes, it would indeed be nice, but I couldn't find out yet why it doesn't work.

Strange, I already suggested it here:

But you replied that it didn't work...
