Looks like a bad association for xml files causing the problem. Another user seems to have this problem with pif files.

What can you see when you place cursor on xml file and choose files - associate - edit type?

You are right, the association with xml files was faulty. It pointed to a xml selector app from an old office installation which was upgraded recently. After reassociating it works normal.

These are .xml related settings from my computer:

Something is not exactly right there, that's clear. It's not only TC (64-bit one, 32-bit is fine), Explorer does not show icon for .xml either. I'm not sure what exactly broke it, but it's not important, it's just something that can happen. The problem here is that TC goes into this endless loop, trying to get the icon. Even though after trying thousand times, it should realize that it's not going to work. Preferably even sooner. :)

I have the same problem with XML files. As soon as I enter a directory with XML files, the processor is up on 30 %

I could find the reason now: I get an index in the icon list of 0, but 0 means no icon, so TC will try to reload the icon again and again...
