Everything!

No, wait, just kidding... :) You're not crazy...

I've tried what you said here (with a minor change) and it seems that there is indeed a different behaviour between the 32-bit version and the 64-bit one. I tried b14 with "/i=c:\test.ini". Both versions displayed the "shareware" dialog first. When it appeared for the first time, a "ding" was also heard, which means that TC also displays (or at least tries to) the "update" dialog. Here's what happened to me:

- 32-bit: the "ding" is heard, shareware dialog appears in front and when it's closed, the "update" dialog is shown behind it.

- 64-bit: the "ding" is heard, shareware dialog appears in front and when it's closed, NO "update" dialog is shown behind it.

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.

Hmmm, i tried this too and after a few times, i noticed that:

1. The "shareware" window is briefly shown and closed.
2. At one point, i think i saw the "update" window, which was also closed almost immediately.

EDIT: Correction to (1): The "shareware" window is briefly shown without the buttons (so it's shown as an "about" window).

About (2), i saw that more than once, so it seems there's an interference here. Perhaps the intention is to close the "about window" and the "update" dialog gets hit too...

1. The "shareware" window is briefly shown and closed.
IMHO this was "splash screen", not "nag/shareware" screen (when key is used)

I have improved this now in beta 16 to avoid that the update notification is shown while the nag screen or settings dialog are up. You can test it by adding

SimulateUpdate=1
to wincmd.ini section [Configuration]. Please note that this is undocumented and will be removed by the end of the beta test, or when the problems are resolved.

You will still have to delete the lines starting with
AutoUpdateCheckDate=
AutoUpdateInformedVersion=

and save the wincmd.ini, then restart TC.

TC 9.0 b16 x64 now shows update notification (but about b15).

Really? Here it reports beta 16.

Maybe you tried too early? The update check goes via DNS (domain name system), and the validity of the entry is set to 1 hour. Your service provider may be caching the DNS entry for more than that.

Nice to hear that! Are there still any problems with the dialog being hidden/removed by shareware screen/startup screen?

I have not this screens, because I have license and have switched off splash screen, but I'll check this today evening and I'll write to you about results.
