Did you do exactly as written here:

5. Copy the TotalcmdDark.chm from totalcmd1050_darkhelp2.zip to: %COMMANDER_PATH%\LANGUAGE\Wcmd_en2Dark.chm

Yes I followed the instructions to the letter and did exactly as per the steps. The darkhelp still worked just fine afterwards, exactly the same as it was before, but I could not get it to switch between darkhelp 1 and 2 using the menu buttons. I don't know why, but it's not a big problem. I can live with only having darkhelp 1 available.

Hmm, it works here - I even tested it with a clean ini file to rule out that any non-deafult setting should be required.

Hhave you compared your files with the one on the image: https://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/darkhelpfiles.png - check if sizes are the same.

What happens it you double-click on Wcmd_en2Dark.chm - do you get the Darkhelp 2 help?

In TC 10.51rc2 it is now possible to make this file-set in TC's Language directory:

where Wcmd_2_eng.chm is a copy of the English Totalcmd.chm file
where Wcmd_2_eng.inc, Wcmd_2_eng.lng, Wcmd_2_eng.mnu are copies of these files: https://plugins.ghisler.com/languages/wcmd_eng.zip
where Wcmd_2_engDark.chm is a copy of TotalcmdDark.chm from https://madsenworld.dk/tc-darkhelp/totalcmd1050_darkhelp2.zip

You also need the TotalcmdDark.chm from https://madsenworld.dk/tc-darkhelp/totalcmd1050_darkhelp.zip in TC's program directory.

You should then be able to switch between using the two dark help files with thes two buttons:

1. Mark the text in the box here above (click SELECT ALL).
2. Copy it to the ClipBoard (press Ctrl+C).
3. Right click on TC's buttonbar and choose "Paste".

What happens it you double-click on Wcmd_en2Dark.chm - do you get the Darkhelp 2 help?

No program associated with .chm file type. It doesn't execute within TC

You can use this file to register .chm files: https://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/chmfile.zip
Just doubleclick on the chmfile.reg file.

Or you can associate it internally in TC to c:\windows\hh.exe (or %SYSTEMROOT%\hh.exe)

Or you can run this command from TC's command line:

I can see Darkhelp 2 on another computer. On that computer both panel backgrounds are nominally black. Only the left panel where the text appears has a white background. ie. the text of the menu structure itself is still black, but each character has to have a white background otherwise you would not be able to see the menu structure at all. But where there is no text from the menu structure display, the vacant areas are black. It is not a good look. Darkhelp 1 is the much better compromise.

No I did not. Now that I've seen what Darkhelp 2 looks like, I won't want to use it, so there is no worth for me in being able to switch easily between them.
