Maybe Christian could include a file like TOTALCMD.INC but with all INI entries so that it can be used by programs like Ultra TC configuration Editor 4.

Something like "tc all keys english.txt" that we can find on DATA FILES directory of UTCCE4 it would be nice.

I also think the separate file for all ini settings is the better solution.

Thus one could limit the size of wincmd.ini.

INIs have limits

:) Hello!
Does wincmd.ini have size limit?
• Yes, it has :
- under Win9x --> 64KB totally
- under NT/2K/XP --> 64KB per section (that is much more "comfortable"!)
- some programs avoid these limits using configurations files with another extension, i.e. : *.sav

:mrgreen: Kind regards,
Claude

It should be mentioned in addition to the information supplied by Clo that these limits only apply when using the standard functions to read from and write to INI files provided by Windows. It's not a limit of the file format but of these functions. An application may use other functions to manage INI files. That gives more flexibility but means overhead on the downside.

:) Hello Christian !
*.sav is not so limited, not only because the file-type, but especially because it uses another structure /syntax, for instance :

Code: Select all

[langue]=C:\Helios-tests\langue\francais.lan
[analyse]=C:\Helios-tests\analyse\francais.lan
[aide]=C:\Helios-tests\aide\aide.htm
[aide_balise]=C:\Helios-tests\aide\Balise.htm
[mailpardefaut]=
[visuimage]=1
[visuhtml]=1
.................
in the HTML editor "Netedit-Hélios" (Delphi 5™)

Is TC's help up to date? I tried to find a setting (CopyCompatDrives=) that is in my wincmd.ini, but it doesn't exist in the Help.
Is there a way to find a complete list of all wincmd.ini possible setting?

TIA

I have got it in my one. It seems to me that TC saves drives for which you use 'compatibility mode' in it.

@Raymond:
The value IS MENTIONED in wincmd.ini section of the help file. Switch to "search" tab after calling help and enter "PreloadThumbnails" there...

There can't be a complete overview right now because not all settings are mentioned in the official documentation.
In the end this is one of the reasons why I have created this thread! Good morning... ;)
