I have installed TC on a network drive and i execute it from there. I run some tests with NAV 2002 installed on the PC.
Nav Enabled: TC starts in about 4 seconds.
Nav Disabled: TC starts in less than 1 second.
Typical Symantec product behavior.....

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.

Hmmm...
When I have Nav enabled it can take 30 seconds of more to start TC.
My USB-Stick lists as "Tiny Disk" in the new hardware dialog.
Maybe Nav think its a normal drive and want to check for a virus in the boot sector?
Dont know if that works the same as on normal HDD drives??

Probably yes. That's the way it should be. What i don't like (and probably everyone that uses NAV) is that it takes 3-4 times more time to start TC when using NAV...DarkRuleR wrote:Maybe Nav think its a normal drive and want to check for a virus in the boot sector?

Maybe it helps to use the unpacked version of TC (without the UPX packer)? I doubt it, though, that it would help in this case, but you may try it (search the forum for a link to the unpacked version).

Tried with the unpacked version and the result was the same.
Very slow start >20 secs.
I''m afraid that the only thing I can do now is send the USB-Stick to Mr. Ghisler.

How about this: Create a little batch file, which
- copies everything to a subdir of %temp%
- runs TC from there
- waits until it is closed
- deletes all files in the subdir on %temp%
