I think he's trying to provoke me to see how I respond. I can't expect everyone to have a big smile on their face because of an off topic message where such messages are supposed to be permitted.

Thank you for the warmth of your welcome. As you've probably noticed, I'm green as grass and I'll probably make a few mistakes, bruise some egos and cause some hiccups but it's part of a learning process.
My apologies for intruding into a file manager's forum. I expect I will soon get an email notifying me of the forthcoming banning. No harm was meant. I'll just show myself out of this forum. Thanks again.

I been a registered user of TC for more than twenty years but always considered myself to be a novice. Is there anything about TC that I want to know? Yes, there is! That's why I joined the forum, but I will be asking my questions in a more appropriate area of the forum. I guess I have introduced myself and will withdraw to the general forum area and hopefully not incur the ire of other members.

Do you mean, the manually written name will not work to notify a person?

Yes, I had noticed that doesn't work and tested it again to make sure.

I get email notifications for treads that I subscribe to or have replied to - so if I click on *Stefan2 it will be to write a comment, and that will be why I get the notification, not because I clicked on *Stefan2 per se.
