Clo,
the side I have linked into is full of Freeware -Erasers.
(in present time: 8 (eight!)
You should´t read only the commercials or maybe change your browser.

And I say again: please take a look at "Eraser", too.

Kind regards

If you want to carry Eraser on your USB stick ... FYI:

The normal Eraser installation writes into the registry - which is bad without Admin rigths or when you're not on your own PC.

For the workaround in this thread, you need only 2 files from the complete Eraser installation:

- take ERASERL.EXE from installation folder
- and ERASER.DLL from \windows\system32 folder

Put them on your USB stick and edit the paths for command and parameter according Hacker's post.

- Sorry, I've no time enough to rummage in the bottom-corners of the pages to find that you quote :P
- I use IE6+the "Maxthon" interface, it's quite satisfactory for me, no need to change it at all…
- And, personally, I've a very good free eraser-program in French, it doesn't write anything in the Register hence it's quite portable in a USB-stick or so… No need to change too…

Hi Clo !
i didn´t quote you right, sorry.
But I have had the hope that you will remember, what you have posted a few hours ago.
The important thing was: To find secure erasing tools,
there are for example "governemental standards" for secure erasing.
The "webattack" -page uses very small commercials. I hope it is OK to post a link to it ?
Untill now, I can see 8 Freeware programs on that page. So my thought was, you may use a wrong browser.
(I viewed that page after your post with several browsers and didn´t find a mistake.)
But I didn´t use IE or Maxthon. When I view this page, I can´t even see a single price, as you mentioned!

Kind regards

:) Hi again !
…When I view this page, I can´t even see a single price, as you mentioned!…
- Strange : with the link you gave first, ( http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/security/fwerase.html ) this is the first thing one sees on it… Clicking on "More Info" shows the pretty high price I quoted.
http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/freeware.html is the freeware-page
- Just to close that misunderstanding … 8)

Directly below the pic you quoted are the eight freeware shredders, maybe your browser is a little too effective at banner blocking and also blocks the useful stuff?

The link http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/security/fwerase.html works perfectly alright, nothing is hidden, no need "to rummage in the bottom-corners". ;)

Hi, my knowledge about AHK scripts is quite limited but i'd like to make you a question about it.

Is it possible to launch Eraser using DllCall() with erasext.dll in order to erase all selected files & directories without having to use lst2mlt with each one of them ?.

Thanks.

Eraser homepage is down, so i could not find any docs. Is there a function in that dll that accepts a list of files?
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

I'm not sure, but i think that erasext.dll is used by Eraser when you delete files&directories using Erase entry in windows context menu, and these files are sent to Eraser from Tc, so it should accept it.

But i repeat that i'm not a programmer, that's why i'm asking to the gurus  .

Another possibility could be to create an Ahk script that :
- Opens windows context menu with Send, {AppsKey}
- Selects Erase context menu entry and launches it
- Selects Yes on Eraser window to confirm selected files or directories deletion.

But i don't know how to choose/select a windows context menu item using Ahk :( , and it's impossible to select Erase entry using Send {DOWN} on windows context menu, because Erase context menu entry position is different depending if you are trying to delete files or directories.

Thanks.
