RC4 will probably solve the problem.

But just in case, report your findings and requests here also:

Not sure about RC 4 but in RC5 the issue is fixed, have reported it in the above mentioned thread. HQ is always active now and the speed is nevertheless faster than Explorer in my first quick test.

RC5 works great, is it possible to use Gamma correction of Xnview with quick view mode (Ctrl+Q) of TC ?.
I have been testing it and Gamma correction doesn't work in quick view mode & thumbnails, but it works using Xnview as external viewer in TC (F3).

Thanks.

Further great news from xnView! 8)

Since RC6, xnView serves the thumbnails according their quality setting to TC.

The embedded thumbnails are now served with correct EXIF orientation.
This is an absolutely fantastic feature. It works perfect and it's blazingly fast. :D

Sorry, but this feature seems to change whenever a new RC is coming out:
How do i advance to the next picture without turning slideshow on? In RC1 it was space, but it is now changed to start the slideshow :-(
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

It works like on Compupic and many other image viewers try PgUp&PgDn.

Thanks! Can this be changed in XnView? Or do I have to write my AutoHotkey script? ;-)

TC and XnView CameraRaw options

Post by *Amsis »

I re-dust this old post to verify the current situation.

TC version 7.03
XnView version 1.93.6

These are my XnView options:
  • Option -> Preview -> Camera Raw -> Embedded Thumbnail
Option -> View -> Misc -> Camera Raw -> Embedded Thumbnail
These are my TC options:
  • IView=1
    IviewAdditionalTypes=*.cr2
    ThumbIrfXnTypes=*.*
When I view cr2 files this is what happens:
  • the XnView options have no effect and TC, in displaying thumbnail, always uses the Embedded Thumbnail
the listener (F3) does not shows the "Embedded Thumbnail" but, slowly, always shows the full quality image
(I restarted both programs after changing the options)

Already in the 2005's posts, this situation seemed to be fixed...

Is so to you?

Thank you!

This is the expected behavior. What do you expect to behave differently?

Hacker,

I simply love to decide the quality display (and therefore the speed).

Not so much for the thumbnails as for the Listener.

So, I expected that the behaviour of the Listener-XnView depends on the options set into XnView. Is this correct?

Otherwise I should think of using IrfanView that, by using the embedded thumbnails, is much faster.

What do you think?

Amsis,
Ah, sorry, I misunderstood your previous post. TC just requests the picture, it is then up to XnView what it sends to TC. So I guess your question would better be served on the XnView forum.

However thanks, I will do it!

To close: can you confirm me that the behavior which I tried to describe is what currently happening in TC?

Thank you!

Amsis,

Unfortunately I cannot, as I do not have any RAW files.
