As the history describes, I only changed the overlay size at icon size 24.
Wasn't the old icon size far too small at 200%?

I wrote:ghisler(Author) wrote: 2023-11-06, 15:36 UTCI have changed the size back to the smaller one when using size 24, please test it!
In the previous version, the size was passable, now it's too small...Fla$her wrote: 2023-10-27, 08:39 UTC I don't use the "Small icons" option. With icon size 24, the dropdown toolbar arrow looks microscopic. If the pause is the same, it's not suitable at all.

See, whatever I do, someone will complain.
That's the size I used for many years for the .bar file dropdown overlay.
Maybe I will add an option to a future version to choose the size, but that's beyond the 11.02 release, sorry.

But no one complained about the pause icon in this topic, but for some reason you reduced it too. What for?

Re: [RC5] big drop down menu icons
Yes, the old size is quite small, but in a familiar way. Feels like a weak indication, not a strong opinion. It's habit, anyway. I can adapt to the new design, too. (But if there is an option in the future, I'll change it back promptly.)
More words about why I prefer the small overlay size. In my settings, all toolbar icons have been changed to either a program icon or a high-resolution icon chosen from iconfinder.com or elsewhere. They fit my taste, and a heavy overlay feels intrusive.

Re: [RC5] big drop down menu icons
I could make the largest of the 3 overlays a bit smaller, e.g. with just a single pixel wide border. Or add a 4th icon with a size between the second and the third?

Change the "Size" field in Configuration - Button bar (upper right corner) to 25.

If this fixes the situation (first of all with the pause icon), then please add.ghisler(Author) wrote: 2023-11-07, 09:22 UTCOr add a 4th icon with a size between the second and the third?

Re: [RC5] big drop down menu icons
I think it looks indeed better. Here are they with 5 icon sizes 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48 and 64x64:
Image: https://www.ghisler.ch/images/baroverlays.png
The overlay size for 24x24 and 32x32 is the same.
The largest size is now only used for 60x60 and larger (so for 64x64 in the above image), and the border has been reduced to 1 pixel.

It's quite strange that the largest ICON looks much worse than the smaller ones.
It's too sharp at the edges...
And some unnecessary blur appears at the boundaries of objects....
Did you just enlarge one picture to these sizes?
IMHO, it needs to be redrawn to such a large size - so that it looks perfectly vector-beautiful

Re: [RC5] big drop down menu icons
This is only about the overlays, not the icons - the 48x48 and 64x64 icons are scaled.

Re: [RC5] big drop down menu icons
Is it possible to specify a custom overlay in the future? I prefer something like a tiny light arrow...

Re: [RC5] big drop down menu icons
Currently it's not planned, maybe in a later version.
