I'd vote for second variant or even for

6 Plugins
7 Unicode
8 UTF-8

because Plugins doesn't look good between Unicode and UTF-8...

Looks good I think.

What do you think about some other, additional hotkeys? No collisions I think:

T Text
B Binary
H Hex
M Multimedia
I Internet
U Unicode
P Plugins

Besides that, please switch back to non installer version. People who need context menu entry – I don't – can activate it from inside the program anyway. Thanks. ;)

8 is important…

:) Yep ! There has to be a runoff, we need at least one more vote !

• Seriously : The most important is to get "8" as a mnemonic digit for the short cut…

Looks good I think.
But 6 is Unicode in TC. And 7 is UTF-8 in TC.
I'd rather vote for first variant, "7 Plugins, 8 UTF8".
If users of TC will complain, I can change it.

Installer is important:
1. it saves installation path to registry, so majkinetor's tool can find Viewer.
2. it enables ctx menu item. I want it to be enabled by default.

I can't follow you. You have proposed
6 Plugins
7 Unicode
8 UTF-8
yourself because Plugins doesn't fit in between. ;)
1. it saves installation path to registry, so majkinetor's tool can find Viewer.
I am able to edit the path myself. You can also do that with a simple batch. It's also ok for me to run the installer once but
2. it enables ctx menu item. I want it to be enabled by default.
I have no use for context menu entries I don't need because I am using other ways to start my preferred apps. Enough apps out there who pollute my system with crap entries on each installation I have to permanently disable or remove afterwards.

By the way: The installer doesn't check/update ShellExtension entry in Viewer.ini!

Installer sucks !

Post by *Clo »

:) Alexeï,
I support the icfu's point of view about the installer, at least for the test versions, till the stable first version'll be released…

- I ought admit that I hate the installers, especially the kind you are using that I can't open in order to update the programme by hand in several versions…

- You could use for instance the SQX-plugin one, it's free and I¦we can open it easily…
- I don't need the shell integration, and like Jeff points out, your *.bat file works OK still for those who want to add this…
- So, please , provide a ZIP - RAR - SQX -7Z… archive for the programme…

yourself because Plugins doesn't fit in between.
In this case user'll have different key for Unicode in TC and Viewer. Key for Unicode is important, and key for UTF-8 (7 in TC) is not important, IMHO. So - I'd vote for "7 Plugins, 8 UTF-8".

2Clo
OK - I'll put RAR version also.
By the way: The installer doesn't check/update ShellExtension entry in Viewer.ini!
Yes, it doesn't touch ini in any way.

You were right, I suddenly realized that UTF-8 files are already supported. Great! :)

But I did nothing for this. Seems like a feature of MS RichEdit. So, do I need "custom" UTF8 support?..

Seems like UTF-8 supported only when:

- we have Win 2K/XP (not 98) and
- file has special UTF-8 sugnature.

So, support is limited.
Do I need "custom" UTF-8 support, like Ghisler's Lister?
What do people think?

I tried to implement correct display of your NFO files in Text mode, but without success. MS RichEdit prohibits usage of OEM font charset and switches to ANSI font charset.

So, wait for ver 1.5, where Text mode will be non-RichEdit, I'll make correct display of OEM files there and try to make autodetection of OEM charset.

Updated LNG

Post by *Clo »

2Alextp

:) Good morning !

• Thanks for the RAR archive !

- The updated French LNG is available here. I fixed up also a typo and a menu short cut
(problem with a French keyboard for É…)
- Now, the Middle Win Button works OK in any case, thank you !
- added "Copy as hex" command
- This new entry is displayed also in the local-menu, it works.

• To be continued… :D

@Alextp:
Unicode REG-files look rather strange in viewer.
0D 00 0A 00 has to be interpreted as CR/LF.
