Hi,

Judging from the screenshots it could be a good idea to increase the swap file size. On the second screenshot you can see the difference between the maximum and the limit is not very large.
I don't think there is a way for an application to control how the system cache behaves.

I tried doubleing mys swap file from the 720 Mb (recommended by XP) to 1440, but the system cache is still deminished to 8 Mb during a "freeze".

I wouldn't think so either - that should certainly be a task for the OS anyway. I should buy myself some more RAM, but I usually never experience swap file activity.

Maybe Fremem Pro is of interest for you. That can defrag and free the RAM on your PC.

Thank you , but I have ONLY had memory problems of any kind during testing this TotalSQX password "problem" - I usually have about 33% free memory with the kind of applications I am running.

Changes since 1.06:

• ADDED Spanish translation
• CHANGED For non-solid archives the password has to be entered for each single unpack operation.
• FIXED If only the first files were unpacked in an archive the whole archive were unpacked. The resulting files in the temporary directory were not deleted.
• FIXED Inconsistent setting in settings file concerning standard self-extracting archives fixed.
• FIXED State control in self-extracting archives dialog fixed.
• CHANGED When a password is required to update a solid archive a new dialog now asks for a repack passwords instead of an unpack password. The new dialog is not yet localized. The unpack protection password will be used for repacking if possible.
• CHANGED The unpack password for solid archives has to entered only once. It will be cached until another archive is opened.
• CHANGED Unused passwords are no longer displayed in option dialog.
• FIXED A new dialog asks the user for a password before updating non solid archives. The new dialog is not yet translated. You cannot apply passwords of old files in the archive at the moment but you are free to enter the same.
• FIXED Non-solid archives with both unpack and listing passwords were destroyed when updating a file in the archive.
• FIXED Plug-in crashed TC on TC installations where TC's main settings file location is neither stored with relative nor absolute path but as simple filename in the registry.

Thank you for testing my plug-in again! It's good to hear that you were referring to the same problem as ARenna.
I guess it's already worked fine since Total SQX 1.07 BETA 1...

The reason was the following:
FIXED Plug-in crashed TC on TC installations where TC's main settings file location is neither stored with relative nor absolute path but as simple filename in the registry.

That means that IniFileName in either
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Ghisler\Total Commander\
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ghisler\Total Commander\

registry keys was set to a filename only. This case wasn't handled in Total SQX 1.05 and 1.06.

When testing a password protected SQX Archive no password is requested and TC freezes at 96%. Although one could cancel the test operation it is a bit annoying.

Don't know if this a limitation of SQX, the Plugin or TC.

It's definitely a bug in the plug-in.

It will be fixed only if there will be improvements to the test archive user interface and a repair command in TC 7

Changes in this version:

• FIXED Testing password-protected archives didn't work properly.
• ADDED The new option ArchiveOKMessage can be used to the behavior after successfully testing an archive (0=No message, 1=Display message).
• FIXED Packing wasn't finished when trying to pack just empty directories along with recovery data.
• FIXED Some files which contains alternate data streams couldn't be packed.
• FIXED Packing an archive with both archive and file protection in addtion with store security attributes resulted in non unpackable (using Total SQX) archive.
• CHANGED The option EnableAudioCompression has been removed. Audio compression can now be enabled always.
• FIXED Audio compression should now work without crashes. The option to enable/disable audio compression has been removed.
• CHANGED From now on the SQX library 6.0.4600 is used. The files for creating self-extracting archives have been updated as well.

Does the new beta2 version can't use a password to protect the archive?

First I checked Encrypt (ZIP only) in TC's pack dialog, and input two times password, but didn't work.
Second I used the SQX's Configure dialog choosed from TC's pack dialog, I enter password in the Security page, but didn't work neither.
