Imagine gets activated and shows different error messages:
"Out of memory" (viewing 87 bytes in 3 lines)
"Invalid data" (viewing 27 bytes, being only the first line of the above file)
The setting of CopyComments in WINCMD.INI doesn't seem to matter (tested on/off =21 or =29).
Screenshots of the error messages and a copy of both files can be found here.
P.S.: Normally I use SGViewer (along with some other plugins), which doesn't produce such messages, probably because it doesn't get activated with those files in my standard setup (and even can't be activated manually using shortcut key "4").
Who the hell is General Failure, and why is he reading my disk?

It seems that it happens if the file contains more than 2 characters an the two first characters are: P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 or P6 - it has to be a capital P - and those two characters has to be followed by either a space or a newline.

Yes, it is very annoying - I can't even press 4 to skip to the next plugin. IMGView.wlx has the same behaviour with certain files IIRC.

Confirmed, neither works for me. Imagines interface doesn't even appear and keyboard input is blocked instantly. Running Taskmanager via Ctrl+Alt+Del thankfully still works as this is the only way to terminate the Imagine process and regain keyboard functionality.
Currently you will have to remove the line "FullScreenAtStartup=1" from imagine.ini manually to be able to run Imagine.exe again.
wmf bug is still unfixed in lates release. pligins also has some strange behavior, pictures are shown in left corner insted of center, it doesn't save posion on exit etc..
