SNMP MIB Browser

Post by *uriok »

Hi Guys,

I think an SNMP MIB Browser can be a very useful plugin (for me).
SNMP MIBs are hierarchical, just like file systems, and are network reachable - a classic FS plugin.

Is someone working on something similar ?

Thanks,
Uri

A classic mistake under non-native English writers: no one.

I remember you making this fault before (...search gives me 3 hits)
that's why I think it's time to mention it...

noone

I've seen this a couple of times, outside of the forum, and I've always thought they meant "none".
Of all the planets I've been to, this one is my favorite.

Collins COBUILD has 'no one' and 'no-one'. The only Noone I know of is Herman a.k.a. Peter Noone.

Hi guys,

My 1st wish, a lister plugin between the TC Lister interface and the Irfanview plugins. :D

Anybody knows the Irfanview plugin interface?, I've been searching without any result. :(

My 2nd wish, a FileSystem plugin to burn CD's :D :D :D

I know, there are the NeroAPI, Padus Foundation Classes and CopyToCD( an more), but I think it's better make a Front End for cdrtools (a.k.a cdrecord), same way as Multiarc do with packers.

cdrtools:
It's open source, multi-platform, and only command-line.
Avaiable at http://cdrecord.berlios.de

There is a win32 frontend for cdrtools 2.0, the CDR Tools FE, avaiable at http://demosten.com/, the full installer comes with a binary version of cdtools 2.0 for win32.
This GUI doesn't hide the call to command-line, it's usefull to learn the command-line sintax.

 I'm thinking in a FileSystem plugin for TC similar to a Temporary Drive with a 'Settings' dialog.
The user can 'copy' to this drive the files to burn and when the user wants, burn all the files in the Temporary Drive to the CD writer.
Also, can burn an ISO file directly to CD, of course.

Another possibility is a full integration with TC

What do you think about?

P.S.: Sorry for bad English :(

New plugins?

Post by *piranha »

For those plugin developers having lots of free time and no idea what plugin write next, check here for a list of plugins for FAR. I guess TC could use some of them?

Here find a list of some interesting (bizzare) ones that would be possible to port into TC:
* Hidden Options Editor (tweakTC) : This plugin allows you to edit hidden options in TC, which are not accessible through normal configuration.
* ASCII Table : ASCII Table. Toggle DOS/Windows character table and Select custom character table. Copy/Append character to clipboard.
* Environment Variables Manager : Editing/Listing environment variables in runtime.
* Regular Expression Search and Replace : Recursive Search using regular expressions and "AltaVista-like" in files. RegExp was requested so many times!
* Net Watch : Plugin "Net Watch" provides the information about all the open file on the computer.
* Switcher of video modes : This utility - switcher of video resolutions.
* ScanDir (lst2str) : Plugin it is intended for execution of the commands in the selected directories and their subdirectories. (filesystem)
* Vocabulary (translator) : Search/Add/Edit specific words in multi-language vocabulary file?

Here are some I could really use:
* Empty Temp Folders (emptemp): There is standalone tool made by one of members of this forum. I guess it would be VERY cool to have it as filesystem plugin. To the author: Thanks a lot. This proggie saves my life everyday.
* Icon Extraction/View tool : (filesystem) Plugin searches given path + subfolders and lists (allows extraction) icons in exe/dll files (cache would be needed)
* Startup Manager : Manages the programs that start during Windows boot
* Messenger : Sending messages over a network from TC. Selecting recipients from a list of all network resources or from user-defined domains. Personal bookmarks (hotlist). History of 10 last messages.

DISCLAIMER:
I've written this post because:
1. Seeing how many plugins FAR has I got jeleaous.
2. I see some great programmers here, and maybe they need some cool ideas.
3. I'm fully aware that above proposals have standalone versions, BUT: If TC will have more plugins, that will give more motivation to ppl to buy TC = more registrations to Christian = Christian Happy = Long Life Of TC = Us (users) Happy
4. Some of above plugins are quite tricky and may be a challenge to developpers.
5. I thought it may show Christian that the plugin interface needs some extensions (to be more flexible), which will benefit all of us.
After all, computers crash, people die, relationships fall apart. The best we can do is breath and reboot.

My thoughts: FAR supports many plugins which are better done with a separate program on Windows. FAR needs them because it's a console app, and consoles aren't normally multi-tasking (except if multiple are opened under windows).

So things like an ASCII table or a hidden options editor are much better as an external tool, which you can then add to the button bar.

yet another wish.
How about an encoder for files? E.g. from wave -> ogg, mp3. Maybe even with cd-rip functionality?

Unfortunately this will remain a wish - the makers of the .SIT format (Aladdin software) protect their format very strongly, and don't even allow third party unpacking tools. To my knowledge, the only program on the PC which can handle their files is their own extractor.
